Action timeline

August 24, 2010 – The Center petitioned the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to list the Bicknell’s thrush as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act, primarily due to the threat of global warming.

July 12, 2011 – The Center reached a landmark agreement with the Fish and Wildlife Service compelling the agency to move forward in the protection process for 757 species, including the Bicknell’s thrush.

August 14, 2012 – In response to a petition from the Center and due to our 2011 agreement, the Fish and Wildlife Service announced a “90-day finding” that the Bicknell’s thrush, a northeastern songbird threatened by climate change, may warrant protection as an endangered species.
