June 16, 2004 – The Center and allies submitted a petition to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to list the Siskiyou Mountains and Scott Bar salamanders as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act.

April 25, 2006 – The Service published a 90-day finding that the petition to list the salamanders did not present substantial information to indicate that listing may be warranted.

July 6, 2006 – The Center filed suit.

January 19, 2007 – The court determined that the Service's 90-day finding was arbitrary and capricious and ordered the Service to make a new finding.

March 29, 2007 – The Service announced that listing might be warranted and initiated a status review.

January 24, 2008 – The Service published a final rule announcing that listing the salamanders was not warranted.
