Climate Activists, 'Frostpaw' the Polar Bear to Greet President Obama in Minneapolis

President Urged to Reject Keystone XL, Enbridge Pipelines

MINNEAPOLIS— Climate activists from the Center for Biological Diversity and MN350, along with the Center’s Frostpaw the Polar Bear, will greet President Obama outside a dinner fundraiser in Minneapolis on Thursday, urging him to take his climate change agenda to the next level and reject Keystone XL and Enbridge’s Alberta Clipper pipeline expansion.

“If President Obama is serious about tackling the climate crisis, he should start with rejecting Keystonen XL and the Enbridge expansion,” said the Center for Biological Diversity’s Valerie Love. “Allowing these kinds of fossil fuel projects to move ahead only raises the risk of climate catastrophe and makes it harder to move toward energy sources that are cleaner and safer.”

“The facts are clear: The Alberta Clipper expansion is essentially a clone of Keystone XL,” said Andy Pearson, Midwest tar sands coordinator with MN350. “Expanding this tar sands pipeline would accelerate dangerous climate instability and carry huge risks for our lakes and rivers in northern Minnesota.”
